Tea Science and Health

TEA, SCIENCE AND HEALTH

PRESENTED BY DR. TIM BOND

Tea, we all love it but do we know how good it is for us and why? There is an ever growing number of studies highlighting the positive benefits of drinking all types of Camellia-based tea. In this course we will start from what is in the leaf and how processing affects the levels and types of compounds present, exploring terms such as flavonoids, tannins, aeration etc. With the basics covered, participants will then work through sites of action in the body and how they may have both short and long term positive impacts on health. Finally we will bust some myths and commonly held beliefs, talk about how we can communicate tea benefits to consumers and importantly what claims we can - legally - make in company literature, social media etc. We may even have a cup of tea or two.
