Our much-anticipated annual event with Kevin Gascoyne - veteran tea-taster, world specialist on Darjeeling teas, and partner at Camellia Sinensis Tea Company (@camellia.sinensis) - is back!
In this online masterclass, Kevin will delve into the concept of terroir in tea growing: how soil, climate, altitude, and latitude shape flavour and identity. Focusing on Darjeeling, he’ll explain why teas from different estates taste so distinct even within the same region.
You’ll also have the chance to taste spring-harvest Darjeeling teas carefully selected by Kevin for his company’s catalogue that clearly illustrate the impact of terroir. More details to follow as Kevin is currently in Darjeeling making his selections!

The UKTA is thrilled to offer an exclusive visit to the Chitra Collection (@tea.museum) in London, an extraordinary private museum of historic teawares. In 2011, Nirmal Sethia, the Chairman of the luxury tea company Newby Teas (@newbyteas), set himself the task of acquiring the world’s greatest collection of teawares to record and preserve tea cultures of the past. Today, the collection, named in honour of his late wife, Chitra, totals almost 2,000 objects and is considered the world’s finest and most comprehensive of its kind.
Led by Assistant Curator Evelyn Earl, this tour will take you through ancient pieces from China, Europe, Asia and the Americas, spanning over a thousand years of history, reflecting the importance of tea and the diversity of tea drinking customs across the world.

Only 10 spaces are available, so early booking is strongly recommended.

Hope Beyond The Earthquake For Mogok - Rebuilding Mandalay
We want to share this fundraiser campaign launched by Cha Dodo (@cha_dodo_uk) in collaboration with Phyu Thwé and her company, Mogok Tea (@mogoktea), to provide direct aid to the people of Mandalay affected by the recent earthquake. Phyu Thwé, a winner of the Tea for Life Special Award at The Leafies (@the_leafies_tea_awards) 2022, has worked tirelessly to support her family and community through Mogok Tea.
On March 28th 2025, a devastating earthquake struck Myanmar, with Mandalay among the hardest-hit regions. Homes, livelihoods, and communities have suffered, leaving families in urgent need of support. Many of the villagers from Mogok left for Mandalay after the bombings of last year and now they are facing an uncertain future as aftershocks further devastate the country.

Following the hugely successful event in January, we’re back with five more UKTA students and friends sharing their tea rituals - this time from China, Estonia, Kuwait, Nepal, and Russia.
Meet one of our guest speakers Sara, who will talk about Kuwaiti tea rituals.
“My journey with tea began unexpectedly in 2010, during my early university days as a Computer Engineering student. Like many of my peers, I followed the coffee trend, hoping it would sharpen my focus. But coffee and I were never meant to be—it left me restless, uncomfortable, and fatigued. In 2011, I began exploring tea as my personal escape from the intensity of academic life. Back then, Kuwait’s tea options were limited, mostly to standard teabags, so whenever I travelled, I made it my mission to try new blends, immersing myself in the stories behind each cup. In 2019, a close friend encouraged me to turn my passion into a business, giving birth to INFUSE (@infusetea.co)—a name I had envisioned for years. My mission extended beyond learning. I wanted to educate Kuwait about the art of tea, creating a culture of appreciation for high-quality brews. The Arabian way of tea preparation and consumption is distinct and evolving. Learning about our traditional methods while understanding international practices has been eye-opening. As much as I teach, I am constantly learning and discovering new insights into our regional tea culture.”
