Tea and Health: the evidence
An exploration of the research on the science behind tea’s health claims. Learn how the evidence stacks up about the effects of tea compounds on heart health and metabolism – without the hype or half-truths.
Outline
This unit explores tea and health from a clear, objective, honest perspective. Learn how to interpret research and speak confidently about tea’s benefits – without making unsupported claims.
Based on the UKTA research review Chemistry and Culture, this offers an evidence-based guide to what tea can – and cannot – do for health. You’ll explore what science currently tells us about the role of tea in supporting cardiovascular function, metabolic health, antioxidant activity, digestion, cognitive clarity, and more. You’ll also examine the limits of current research: differences between brewed tea and supplements, the strength of observational versus clinical studies, and the risks of misinformation. Practical guidance helps you communicate clearly with customers, clients or colleagues – especially in a wellness context.
On completion
At the end of the unit, you’ll complete a multiple-choice quiz. This insight will help you to write and speak with confidence and credibility about tea and health benefits in the context of hospitality and in spa treatments.
Qualification
When you have passed the MCQs you’ll receive an OCN London digital badge to demonstrate your understanding of matcha.
