Intro to Teas of Nepal, Vietnam, S Korea

Placing the focus on three under-recognised but highly significant tea regions, this is an exploration of resilience and craft, taking in wild trees, artisan revival and quiet rituals.

Overview

This unit explores wild mountain terroir, mass production and modern revival in three distinctive origins – Vietnam, Nepal and South Korea.

Through learning about the teas of these regions, it shows the similarities and differences. In Vietnam, you’ll trace both industrial and forest-based tea traditions, from wild shan tuyet trees to scented lotus tea. In Nepal, you’ll follow the rise of smallholder cooperatives and artisan gardens. In South Korea, you’ll learn about darye, seed-grown teas and regenerative farming. Through stories of recovery and a revival of craft, this unit challenges conventional tea narratives.

On completion
At the end of the unit, you’ll complete a multiple-choice quiz.

Qualification
Once passed, you’ll receive an OCN London digital badge to demonstrate an understanding of the production and culture of teas  from Vietnam, Nepal and South Korea.

This is an optional unit for the World Tea Diploma.
