Dr Carrie Ruxton is an independent dietitian with more than 25 years’ experience in nutrition and health. Since 2003, she has worked on a freelance basis with food and beverage companies, trade bodies and public bodies. One of these roles is being a regular advisor to the Tea Advisory Panel, an industry-funded forum committed to promoting the benefits of drinking tea and busting myths. This work involved writing scientific articles and giving regular interviews to print and broadcast journalists. Carrie also publishes widely on other diverse nutrition topics, including sugar, ultra-processed foods, red meat, eggs and supplements, and has won three awards for her writing. She is a regular contributor to national newspapers, magazines, radio and TV, such as Food Unwrapped, Rip Off Britain and Food Detectives. Her public sector roles have included board positions on the Nutrition Society, Food Standards Scotland and Quality Meat Scotland.
